Project Manager / Estimator

Kellington Construction is an industry-leading trade partner (subcontractor) who performs demolition and carpentry on a variety of commercial construction projects throughout the Twin Cities.  The Kellington Corporate Office is located in NE Minneapolis.  We are seeking a self-motivated and task-oriented individual looking for excellent career growth within the industry. This position is responsible for estimating a wide variety of simple and complex opportunities.  This individual will also have the opportunity to manage projects as workload allows.  The primary focus of this individual will be estimating both demolition and carpentry.

Position Description - Responsibilities/Duties:

Takeoffs and Estimates

  • Have complete understanding of the scope and details of jobs for bid; read and review construction plans
  • Communicate with clients and project stakeholders to ensure proper scope and project requirements
  • Attend job walk-throughs; review the actual jobsite conditions and verify against plans
  • Complete takeoffs through use of state-of-the-art technology and on-line take-off programs
  • Prepare bids and proposals for multiple projects on a weekly basis
  • Provide preliminary budgets for projects that are in various stages of design
  • Provide suggestions for value analysis alternatives
  • Assist with maintain historical cost database   

Project Management

  • Overall responsibility for getting projects completed on time and within the allocated budget
  • Review contracts, specifications, work schedules, and purchase orders
  • Work with field superintendents to organize, plan, and schedule fieldwork
  • Communicate daily with clients and general contractors regarding work schedules, scope of work, materials, and equipment
  • Attend regular site meetings with general contractors to review project progress
  • Recognize areas of opportunity for cost savings while maintaining safety and quality

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent
  • Two or more years’ experience in the construction industry or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proven ability to read construction plans
  • Excellent understanding of building structure
  • Proven estimating and project management skills, including the ability to effectively handle multiple, concurrent projects and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Access, Timberline and project estimating software, Procore
